Quilters and Stitchers

PCHUM Quilters and Stitchers

The PCHUMC Quilters and Stitchers, was formed in 2000 and is dedicated to providing quilts for mission in the community and the world beyond, and quilting education. Member’s quilting skills range from novice to advanced. In 2007 the group completed 123 quilts for missions. Organizations who received quilt donations included the Kalamazoo Family Shelter, The Kalamazoo Gospel Mission, The Kalamazoo Deacons Conference, The Three Rivers Domestic Abuse Shelter, Inky Patrol, The PCHUMC refugee family and individuals who needed to be wrapped in the love of a handmade quilt during crisis. PCHUMC Quilters also completed a signature quilt given to Pastor Sue Petro & John & Elena when they were called to ministry in Grand Rapids in 2007.

We meet on the 1st, 3rd and 5th Thursdays of each month 7:00-9:00pm in the junior high classroom located in the lower level of the church. From 7:00-8:00 we work on mission quilts, then from 8:00-9:00 we work on and share our own projects. Anyone of any skill level is welcome!
