FAITH VILLAGE is going strong!

This year we will explore what God’s perfect kingdom is like and what it means for God’s will to be done.  Together we will find ways to help bring everyday reality a little closer to God’s vision for our world.

When God’s will is done, on Earth as it is in Heaven…

…we talk with God:  September 18 – October 16
Prayer is talking with God. There are many ways to talk with God and many different kinds of prayers. Jesus taught his disciples to pray and gave them an example that we still use today. We call this example the Lord’s Prayer.

…there is no fear:  October 23 – November 20
In Daniel we hear stories of people God called to be faithful and to stand up for God.  Their stories inspire us to not be afraid and help us learn more about what God calls us to do and be.

…there is joy:  December 4 – 18
Christmas is really about God’s great gift to us in Jesus. The Gospels of Matthew and Luke both have a special and unique way to tell the story of Jesus birth. Today, each of us is called to share the Good News of God’s Son, Jesus, in our own way. We can share this wonderful story with others by our words and actions.

…even evil is turned into good: January 8 – February 5
God is always with us–in bad times and in good times. In the story of Joseph we see how God took an act meant for evil and turned it into something good.

…there is no one left out:  February 12 & 19
Jesus proclaimed through his words and actions that everyone is valued by God.  We see in the way that Jesus treats Zacchaeus, women, and children that we all have important roles to play in the community of faith. On either side of Valentine’s Day we’ll celebrate God’s love that includes absolutely everyone!

…there is no doubt:  February 26 – March 25
When faced with God’s unimaginable power and love, sometimes we don’t know what to think. The lives of Jesus’ friends were changed on the day of his resurrection. Likewise, our lives are changed as we become Easter people through God’s grace.

…there is no want: April 15 – May 20
The 23rd Psalm is a treasured piece of Scripture for many because the words comfort us and remind us to trust in God’s care.  As we learn these words we are called into a more complete and trusting relationship with our Lord, our Shepherd.

This year we will focus on the theme of Love God and One Another as we explore what it means to love God, what ways we can love our neighbor, and how to follow the Great Commandment.

Love Your Friends:September 19 – October 17

Jesus, the Son of God, can touch our lives through the lives of others. Four faithful and creative friends believed in the power of Jesus to heal their friend, a paralytic.

Love Your Neighbor:October 24 – November 21

Through the Good Samaritan, Jesus teaches us to love God and other people. When we follow Jesus’ teachings, we show God’s love to other people, whether they live close to us or far away.

Love Breaks Into the World:December 5 – 19

On a cold, dark night, into a crowded, distracted world, a special child was born.God’s perfect expression of God’s perfect Love finds a way to break into our everyday, even when it seems there is “no room in the inn.”

Ten Ways to Love: January 9 – February 6

God made a covenant that we know as the Ten Commandments with the Israelites.  Today these laws help us know how to love and worship God and help us know how to treat others with justice and kindness.

Love Is A Firm Foundation:February 13 – March 13

Jesus was clear that our most central call is to Love God and Love one another. When we hear these words and act on them, we can be confident that our firm foundation will weather any storm.

Do You Love Me?:March 20 – April 17

Following Jesus is not always easy. Peter was afraid and told people that Jesus was not his friend; later Jesus forgave him. We remember that Jesus loves us and forgives us.

Love Opens Our Eyes: May 1 – May 22

We celebrate God’s resurrection of Jesus with great joy and awe, just as Jesus’ followers did on that first Easter day. With love, Jesus revealed himself to the two men who traveled to Emmaus, and Jesus’ love continues to open our eyes to new Truths and deeper faith today.
