Monthly Stretch Events for 2011/2012
September 23
“Game Night”
7 PM to 9:30 PM. Invite your friends, bring a treat and let’s kick-off the year with a game night at the Youth House! The weather will determine if we focus inside or out. Are you into Karaoke, how about a Foosball tournament, or is it time for a Spoons tournament? It is always a great time when you get back together with PCHUM friends after a long summer! Announcement… A MAJOR AWARD will be given to the young person that brings the most friends (No, it is not a leg lamp)!
October 22
“Flashlight Maze”
7 PM to 9 PM. Gull Meadow Farms now has a night maze! Walking through an eight foot corn stalk maze with only the moon and a flashlight can be a little frightening! Join together with your PCHUM friends as we tread the unknown, and realize that together we can overcome our fears. Check back for transportation details. $12 should take care of admission and some apple cider. (Scholarships are available).
Jungle Joes Youth Event is Canceled (There are just too many of us!!!).

December
“The Gospel Mission and Christmas Party at the Youth House”
This is an opportunity for service that we discovered last year with too little time to coordinate properly. This year it is in the Ministry Brochure! If you don’t have a home, what would you do all day when school is out? Our plan is to work with The Gospel Mission to lead an afternoon of crafts with homeless children during Christmas break. That evening we will return to the Youth House to reflect, share, and celebrate the birth of our savior. Details to come!
January
“United Methodist Conference Sledding”
I know, I know, you are used to seeing “Sliding Past Exams” as our January stretch opportunity! This year we would like to do more activities with other churches. We missed out on a great sledding opportunity last year because we had already set our dates. This year we are keeping our schedule open to join the All Conference Sledding event. Look for updated information in The Voice, on Facebook (PCHUM Youth Hapnins), and in Youth Hapnins at www.pchum.org.
February 19
“Glow Bowling”
1:30 PM to 3:30 PM. Grab your white shirt and glow with us at Airways Lanes on Portage Rd. Gutter guards up or down, it is a great way to spend the afternoon with your PCHUM friends! Cost is currently $16.95 for two hours of bowling and games, plus food and drink. (Scholarships are available).
March 18
“Church Wide Pasta Dinner and Variety Show”
1 PM to 3 PM in Fellowship Hall. The youth of Chapel Hill would like to continue to pay forward our gifts by creating and facilitating a pasta dinner, and a little entertainment, for the entire congregation! Of course, we need your help. Do you yodel? How about juggle or sing a song? All ages are needed and welcome to participate. A Good Will offering will be accepted to cover the cost of dinner.
April
“Spring into a Christian Concert”
Is your favorite band playing near Kalamazoo this spring? We really want to do a concert this year! There are usually two or more Christian concerts in the S. W. Michigan area every spring. So, we have left time open to make a PCHUM presence. Offer up your thoughts to jorgecostales@pchum.org and look for more details as the spring schedules come out!
May
“Lock-in at the Wesley Foundation”
Another great opportunity to meet other United Methodist youth in the Kalamazoo area! Every year the conference has a youth gathering in the Wesley Foundation at Western Michigan University. Rock and Roll, fellowship, and fun (not much sleep)! Look for more details. Invite a friend!
Please contact Jorge Costales at chumyc@aol.com with any questions.
